The case against two teenage brothers who allegedly attacked a lesbian couple and a related case in which the couple are charged with slightly injuring the brothers were yesterday both deferred for the second time.

Last week one of the brothers failed to turn up in court and yesterday the police failed to notify doctors who were meant to testify about the injuries.

The brothers, one aged 15 and the other 17, are pleading not guilty – together with a 35-year-old woman – of attacking the girls aged 16 and 15, while the girls are denying similar charges.

During the sitting, the daughters of the 35-year-old woman chose not to testify against their mother, as is their right.

This left a gap in the proceedings which was meant to be filled by the doctors' testimony. However, they had not been notified to appear, it emerged.

The alleged attack took place in a Ħamrun square last month. The case continues.

Lawyers Michael and Lucio Sciriha appeared for the teenage girls while legal aid lawyer Cedric Mifsud appeared for the brothers and the woman.
